In Mexico, the new 2022-2023 school year began this Monday, in which more than 24 million preschool, primary and secondary students returned to face-to-face classes, with the expectation of making up for time lost due to the covid-19 pandemic. Alma Maldonado, a researcher at the Department of Educational Research (DIE) of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV) in Mexico, analyzes the challenges facing the national education system in this new school year.
