The premises of the Judiciary in Macusani and a Police station are set on fire, according to local media in Peru
(CNN Spanish) — In Peru, a mob set fire to an office of the Judiciary in Macusani, located in the department of Puno, on Wednesday, according to what the state media TV Perú reported.
In a phone call with the outlet, the president of the Peruvian Judiciary, Javier Arévalo, said that the premises were “burnt down and destroyed” around 5:30 pm local time.
“Why are these violent waves looking for the judicial premises, the premises of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Police premises? It seems to me that there is an interest in destroying something,” the official said.
TV Peru also reports that a Macusani Police station was set on fire. In images presented by the outlet, a group of people are shown outside what would be the local police station, totally on fire. It is unknown if there are people affected or if these actions are related to the protests against the government of President Dina Boluarte.
