The importance of the García Luna trial. A journalist explains it

With the jury selection process, the trial against Genaro García Luna began, who appeared before Judge Brian Cogan, in the Eastern District Court of New York. The former Secretary of Public Security during the government of President Felipe Calderón (2006-2012), arrested in Texas on December 9, 2019, faces charges of participating in a continuous criminal enterprise of drug trafficking and of lying to immigration authorities. As if that were not enough, the same court and the same judge that sentenced Chapo Guzmán to life imprisonment are the ones that are beginning the process against the former Mexican official today.
