Pretrial detention ordered for director of ElPeriódico de Guatemala

Guatemalan justice issued three months of preventive detention for the journalist José Rubén Zamora, who will face a judicial process for three alleged crimes: money laundering, blackmail and influence peddling. In addition to the director of ElPeriódico, assistant prosecutor Samari Gómez of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (FECI) will also remain in detention while the investigations are carried out.
