(CNN Spanish) — A source from the Government of Mexico told CNN on Wednesday that Rosendo Gómez Piedra will be the new prosecutor in charge of the investigation of the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students in Iguala, Guerrero, in September 2014.

On September 26, Omar Gómez Trejo, the then head of the Special Investigation and Litigation Unit for the Ayotzinapa Case, belonging to the Attorney General’s Office, tendered his resignation, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported at the time.

The president admitted that there were differences because Gómez Trejo did not agree with the procedures that were followed to approve arrest warrants in the case.

News is in development.
