In an interview with Mario González, Jesús Ociel Baena —the first non-binary person in Latin America to reach an electoral magistrate position— assures that, by expressing his gender expression, he is exercising the free development of his personality. “I want to wear heels, I want to wear skirts, I want to wear lipstick, I want to use my symbols that represent me and make me very proud,” says Baena. The report on his appointment in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes, published in “Perspectivas desde México”, has been nominated for the GLAAD Awards that recognize the media for inclusive representations of him.
