
Magnitude 6.1 earthquake shakes Los Lagos region, Chile

(CNN Spanish) — An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 shook the Los Lagos region in Chile this Friday, according to reports from the United States Geological Survey (USGS, for its acronym in English).
The seismic focus was located at a depth of 10 kilometers and the epicenter was located 156.5 kilometers east west of Ancud and 220 kilometers west of Puerto Montt.
The National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security of Chile (Onemi) reported in its twitter account that the earthquake does not meet “the necessary conditions to generate a tsunami on the coast of Chile”.
