Former Guatemalan President Álvaro Colom dies at 71

(CNN Spanish) — The former president of Guatemala Álvaro Colom Caballeros has died at the age of 71, the current president of the Central American country, Alejandro Giammattei, announced on Twitter late this Monday.

In addition, the president extended his condolences to the family and friends of the former president.

Colom governed Guatemala between 2008 and 2012.
