This October 12 marks Columbus Day, for some Columbus Day and, for others, a propitious day to question everything that may imply a cultural imposition. In this context, several feminist groups maintain a sit-in in the roundabout that housed the statue of Christopher Columbus on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, where a year ago they took over the place to build a monument in honor of the women who have been victims of violence. However, the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, warns that the authorities will remove the monument and install a female figure of pre-Hispanic inspiration.
