Elizabeth Holmes tried to flee to Mexico in January 2022, weeks after she was found guilty of defrauding investors while running the failed blood-testing company Theranos. At least that’s what prosecutors argue. Last November, Holmes was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison, a sentence that was appealed by the former businesswoman.
