“This express kidnapping, which they called, seems to me to have been agreed upon between Beltrán Leyva and García Luna,” says the journalist specialized in security issues, José Reveles. In an interview with CNN, the Mexican writer also referred to the testimony of Sergio Villarreal Barragán, alias “El Grande”, who assured on Tuesday that Arturo Beltrán Leyva — who co-founded the drug cartel that bore his last names — ordered Genaro to be kidnapped García Luna—former Secretary of Public Security of the Government of Mexico and the highest-ranking former Mexican official to face US justice on drug trafficking and corruption charges—because “he no longer wanted to answer his calls.”
