In Nicaragua, the parish priest Óscar Benavides, of the Holy Spirit church, was arbitrarily detained by the police this Sunday, the Siuna diocese and the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights denounced. The Nicaraguan police have not commented on the incident, but it adds to the existing tensions between the Catholic Church and the government.
