
Carlitos Balá, the Argentine children’s humorist who transcended generations, dies at 97
(CNN Spanish) — Argentine children’s comedian Carlitos Balá has died at the age of 97, his representative, Maxi Marbuk, confirmed to CNN this Friday.
According to the state news agency Télam, the popular comedian had been admitted to an emergency hospital this Thursday in Buenos Aires after suffering a decompensation.
Carlos Salim Balaá (his real name) was born on August 13, 1925 in the city of Buenos Aires.
The children’s humorist, who transcended generations, had been honored in 2017 in the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina for “his artistic career and his contribution to popular culture.” In 2016 he was declared “ambassador of peace” by Pope Francis.
