(CNN) — Brazilian news station Globo captured video of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in a physical altercation with a youtuber Thursday morning in Brasilia.
After speaking with supporters near the Planalto Palace, Bolsonaro was questioned by the Youtuber Wilker Leao for its alliance with a group of center and right-wing parties called “Centrao” that has a large number of seats in Congress. Some of its leaders are being investigated for being involved in alleged corruption scandals.
Wilker, an Army corporal, has a YouTube channel where he is known for confronting Bolsonaro supporters.
On Thursday, he was recording a video on his cell phone as Brazil’s president took selfies with supporters. After questioning some of the decisions of the Bolsonaro government, the video shows Leao being pushed to the ground by an apparent presidential bodyguard.
Leao stood up, refused to leave and began calling Bolsonaro “the favorite of the center parties”, “cowardly” and “punk”, according to the video released by Globo.
“I come here every day, Bolsonaro. Let’s see if you have the guts to go out and talk to me, the favorite of the center parties. You are the favorite of the center parties, man,” Leao said.
The President, who had gotten into his car, got out and said he wanted to talk to Leao. Leao replied, “Do you want to talk to me now?” while he recorded it on his cell phone.
The video then shows Bolsonaro grabbing Leao’s neck and apparently trying to take his phone. Leao resists and is pushed by the security guards.
After the altercation, Bolsonaro paused to speak with Leao and did not admit to doing anything wrong.
“Come here. You can talk to me all you want, you can talk all you want. No problem. Why this aggressiveness?” Bolsondaro told him.
“Because when I talk to you calmly sir, when I went there, they forbade me to go back in there to talk to you calmly sir,” Leao replied.
CNN has contacted Bolsonaro’s press office and Wilker Leao, but they have not responded.
