A new earthquake, now of magnitude 6.8, shakes Mexico

(CNN Spanish) — An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 6.8 was recorded early this Thursday in southern Mexico, according to a report from the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

According to the report, the epicenter was located 46 kilometers south-southwest of Aguililla, in the Mexican state of Michoacán.

The head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported on Twitter that at the moment there is no damage in the country’s capital, where the seismic alert sounded.
